I just trying to perform “sudo port clean” but it show error “Can’t map the URL ‘file://.’ to a port description file…” I also not able to perform port selfupdate or port upgrade outdated. After some research, it shows all this error is due to the macport is too old and not updated for a long time.
To solve “Macport: Can’t map the URL … ” problem, follow the steps below:

- Start your Terminal
- sudo port -f uninstall ncursesw
- sudo port selfupdate
- sudo port upgrade outdated
- now you should be able to do sudo port clean!
